    Hi Marybank Primary School,
This term we are learning about recycling and how to keep our environment clean. Some of our classes got to recycle paper again. We are going to be making movies this term about recycling. How are you keeping your playgrounds clean and more attractive?

Do your students carry backpacks to and from school? Here in Canada, many students purchase new backpacks every September for the start of the new school year. My grade 5/6 students did a Point of View podcast about it, whether it was a waste of money and environmentally unsound when a backpack could last several years. What do you think? Let us know.http://mysm2000.edublogs.org
I think your comment is a very valid one. I have had the same bag for school for 3 years and it is still just fine.
I think it is really good to see so many people now using reusable bags at the supermarket. Our local supermarket is removing plastic carrier bags from the checkouts from Monday 17th November and you will have to ask for one if you need it.All of these small things are really helping to change people’s attitudes and I think that is the first step of the battle.

It will be great to improve our school grounds especially if we can encourage more wildlife into the garden.
I am looking forward to our new eco re-usable canvas bags arriving at school. I am going to use mine to carry all my marking so they had better be strong!

Here at Dingwall we are also trying to be eco friendly. This week at assembly we are going to collect in and display all the rubbish collected in our school in just one day!
Then we will try to figure out ways to reduce it. I hope it is not too yucky!
Thanks for the comment! And good luck with the assembly and rubbish collection!

I think being eco is very good because we get to go to meetings and give our word on eco stuff and not just adults saying everything! =]=]
